Ten Canadian Artists | Ten Styles of Painting

Following several years of art education (Graphic Design & Illustration at two institutions) I have been fortunate to enjoy and experience 40 years in design firms in Toronto and Ottawa, and finally in our own consultancy.

I am an admirer of the Golden Age of Illustration (1880~1925) which placed representational painting with strong and compelling narratives into most of the homes in North America at that time. Through their story-telling in books and magazines, it was most households’ first, and sometimes only, exposure to fine art painting.

Even though I had embraced the digital technology transformation in the design industry, I returned to my core through drawing, composition, and painting over the past several years.

This series was inspired by my research into my ancestors’ settlement in Lanark County from Scotland over 200 years ago. Being the first generation fully living off “the farm” the nostalgia and history of early Canadian life resonates with me when traveling the region.

As a founding partner of the Ten Collective through the establishment of its Brand, I feel ready to share where the creative journey has brought me.
