Midsummer Group Show in Yorkville | Marina May Raike

Gallery Hittite in Yorkville, Toronto regularly invites me to participate in their shows. So when they asked me to contribute to the Midsummer Group Show, I thought it would be nice to take a mini vacation and see my friends in the big smoke.

Gallery Hittite is owned by Sara Caglar, and managed by Anna Zinato. Their respective origins of Turkey and Italy make for a wonderfully multicultural milieu. Many interesting people, including the Turkish consul and his wife have made appearances at the vernissages.

Sara has also organized exhibitions in Paris and Prague, the latter of which included work by Christian Morrisseau, son of Norval Morisseau.

There will be two more group shows at Gallery Hittite between now and early autumn. The next (and final) exhibition celebrates its 33rd anniversary, with a retrospective of works by Sara and Haluk Caglar. 107 Scollard St, Toronto ON.

Postscript: 2020 | The gallery has now closed and the space sold. Thank you, Sara, for many wonderful events, and your valued support of artists and their work!
